No. 7-ranked St. Thomas raced to a 28-point lead just after halftime en route to a 74-60 home win over Carleton in MIAC men's basketball play Tuesday night at Schoenecker Arena.

Playing their sixth game in 13 days but first of the season at home, the Tommies (5-1 overall, 1-0 MIAC) received 42 bench points in taking their first win of the conference season.

The Purple received 13 points each off the bench from Elijah Hannah and Zach Theisen, as each sank three treys. Ryan Lindberg also canned three 3-pointers and scored nine, and the Toms made 14 treys on the contest.

Over the first 20 minutes, the Toms made eight 3-pointers, shot 51 percent from the floor, and had just five turnovers to lead 44-25 at the break.

St. Thomas used an 11-2 run to start the second half to build the lead to 55-27.

The Knights (1-2, 0-2) closed the game on a 20-10 run.

St. Thomas is home Dec. 4 to face Macalester and again Dec. 7 to play Gustavus.
