Volleyball reaches 19 wins with Friday's home sweep

Freshman Kate Achenbach had 12 kills and hit .355 and Fran Egan added nine kills to lead a balanced offense as No. 17-ranked Tommie Volleyball scored a 3-0 home win over Northwestern-St. Paul Friday night at Schoenecker Arena. St. Thomas won 25-22, 25-18, 25-19.
The Tommies (19-3), who have won eight matches in a row, hit .252 against the Eagles (11-7) and completed a 2-0 run on the day. The Toms topped Stevens (N.J.) earlier in four sets.
Grace Anetipa continued her solid play with 35 assists and 13 digs. Ellie Meyer had 27 digs, and Madie Kroehler added 12 kills and nine digs. Freshman Selena Levendoski had six kills, four blocks, an ace and five digs.
Kendra Hardy had 15 kills and hit .294 for Northwestern.
The Toms play Saturday at St. Catherine (3 p.m.) as they'll attempt to stay unbeaten in league play.

Grace Anetipa had 46 assists, two aces and 18 digs to lead No. 17-ranked Tommie Volleyball to a 3-1 win over Stevens (N.J.) in non-conference play Friday at UST's Schoenecker Arena. The Toms won 27-25, 25-18, 23-25, 25-20.
Fran Egan had 14 kills; Selena Levendoski had 13 kills; Madie Kroehler had 10 kills and 16 digs; and Ellie Meyer recorded 28 digs. The Tommies (18-3) have won seven in a row and play Friday at 7:20 p.m. here against Northwestern-St. Paul. Northwestern and Stevens play at 5:20 p.m.
Kathleen Reigner had 45 assists and 23 digs for Stevens (10-10).
