Overtime road victory keeps Purple rolling on the ice

Freshman Luke Radetic scored a power-play goal 56 seconds into sudden-death overtime to lift visiting Tommie Men's Hockey to Friday's 3-2 win at Gustavus in MIAC play in St. Peter.

The teams close out the weekend conference series Saturday in Mendota Heights on the Tommies' home ice (7 p.m.).

St. Thomas (8-4-2 overall, 2-1-2 MIAC) received eight points from eight different players and it pushed its unbeaten streak to four (3-0-1). Tommie hockey and basketball teams are a combined 11-0 in 2019.

Tommie freshman goalie Cam Burggrabe (5-0-1) stayed unbeaten as he stopped 25 of 27 shots.

Cullen Willox scored his first goal of the season and Tanner Barnes also lit the lamp for the Purple.

In three overtime games this season, all in MIAC play, St. Thomas has two ties with shootout wins plus this OT victory. This victory also avenged a 4-3 overtime loss to the Gusties in 2018 in the MIAC playoffs.
