Senior Zach Gottfredsen contributed four hits and three runs on the night, including two game-two triples, but St. Thomas left nine on base over two games and lost 4-3 and 6-3 in Saturday night's non-conference baseball doubleheader with UW-Oshkosh in US Bank Stadium.

Senior Taylor Grimm drove in all four Oshkosh runs in the opener with a bases-loaded double in the sixth inning and a solo home run. He added a solo home run in game two for the Titans (3-2).

St. Thomas (0-3) outhit the Titans 8-7 in game one and 7-5 in game two. On the night the Toms had four runners tagged out at second or third bases trying to steal or advance, and five stranded at either second or third base.

Trailing 4-0 in the opener, the Tommies got RBI hits in the bottom of the seventh from Josh Thorp and Ryan Lust and used a sac fly by Jake Smith to cut the deficit to 4-3. With the tying run on second base, a pop out to short center ended the game.

Henry DeCaster allowed four runs in six innings for UST in the opener, as he walked one and struck out seven and took the loss. Grant Gunderson allowed four runs in 3 1-3 innings in game two and took the loss.

Oshkosh broke a 3-3 tie with a one-out safety squeeze in the bottom of the fourth inning. They added two insurance runs in the sixth on a one-out single, a hit batter, a wild pitch, a single past a drawn in shortstop, and a sac fly.

The Toms are scheduled to play four games March 16-18 in Waverly, Iowa against No. 9-ranked Concordia-Chicago and Wartburg.
