Tommie Volleyball dropped a 3-0 score to No. 14-ranked UW-Eau Claire Friday afternoon in the quarterfinal round of the NCAA regional tournaent at St. Peter. St. Thomas ends its season 25-9.

"We ran into a hot team," said UST coach Thanh Pham.

The Blugolds (30-3) hit .333 and recorded seven aces as they avenged a five-set defeat to the Tommies 13 days earlier.

Eau Claire moves on to a semifinal match Saturday against last year's national champion Claremont-Mudd-Scripps, a 3-0 winner over Augsburg earlier Friday.

The Blugolds rallied from a 16-13 deficit in the first set and won 25-20. They led 7-0 in the second set, saw the Tommies pull within 17-16 but pulled away to win 25-20.

Eau Claire closed out the victory in set three as they raced to an 11-3 lead and won 25-18.

For the Tommies, Fran Egan and Julia Spacek each had eight kills; Katharine Mallak had 24 assists; and Ellie Meyer and Meghan Mazzola had nine and eight digs, respectively.

Spacek, Mallak, Grace Bordson and Audrey Erickson closed out their careers for UST.
