Sophomore George McGivern led five runners finishing in the top nine Thursday afternoon for Tommie Men's Cross Country at the four-mile Summit Cup race at Pike Island near Fort Snelling.
Macalester topped the Toms 22-33 to take the trophy cup for 2017.
St. Thomas withheld its top seven runners from the race, as those Tommies will compete Saturday in Massachusetts at the Williams College Invite.
Macalester junior Spencer Grant placed first in 21:43, 13 seconds ahead of teammate junior Chris Boranian and UST's McGivern (21:56).
Collin Kiley (21:43), Bailey LaChance (21:48), Seth Glidewell (21:52) and Ricky Peterson (21:53) placed 6-7-8-9 for the Tommies.
Freshmen Erik Sworski (23:27) and Josh Willard (23:43), junior Jess Paylan (23:46) and senior Ryan Garrett (24:06) also finished in the top 16 for St. Thomas.
