Junior All-America Benjamin Myers stopped 38 shots and recorded his fourth career shutout in Friday night's 2-0 Tommie road win over No. 3-ranked Augsburg in MIAC men's hockey play in Minneapolis. It was the first time Augsburg was shutout in 70 games dating back to February 2015.
St. Thomas (4-3-1 overall, 1-1-1 MIAC) used Johnny Panvica's power-play goal 54 seconds into the third period to break a scoreless tie. Brett Gravelle and Brian LeBlanc assisted on Panvica's goal.
Cullen Willox added an empty-net score in the final 1:40.
Myers, who lowered his season goals-against average to 1.61, helped kill off all four Augsburg power plays.
All eight Tommie games so far this this season have been tied or had a one-goal spread with 2:00 left in regulation.
Augsburg (8-1, 4-1) outshot St. Thomas 38-34.
The teams play again Saturday in Mendota Heights (7 p.m.).
