Men's Hockey falls in season opener

No. 15-ranked St. Thomas outshot St. Olaf 34-13 but lost 3-1 Saturday night at the MIAC Showcase tourney in Blaine.
Brett Gravelle scored a power-play goal with 4:00 to go for UST (0-1) to cut the deficit to 2-1, but the Oles (1-1) scored an empty-net goal in the final 20 seconds. Derek Olmschenk and John Peterson had UST's assists.
Eric Hancock had 33 saves or the Oles.
The Tommies (0-1) play Sunday at 3:30 p.m. in Blaine against Hamline.
