Men's soccer blanks Hamline 2-0

The St. Thomas men's soccer team defeated Hamline by a score of 2-0 on Saturday afternoon at South Field to move to 9-0-2 on the year and 4-0-1 in the MIAC. The Pipers move to 7-4-0 overall and 1-3-0 in conference play.
Johnny Mulvahill put the Tommies on the board early in the game, scoring in the sixth minute from the front left of the box with the assist going to Mark Heydt.
St. Thomas finished the half with a 5-2 advantage in shots with the score still 1-0 in favor of the Tommies.
In the 65th minute, Mark Hedyt was able to convert a penalty kick into another score for St. Thomas by finding the lower right corner of the net for his fourth goal of the season.
Offensively, the Tommies continued to pressure the Pipers and finished the game with 14 shots, compared to 3 for Hamline.
Grant Larson made one save in goal to complete the shutout.
St. Thomas makes the short trip to second-place Macalester for a Friday night matchup with a start time of 7:30 p.m.
