10/12/2016 12:00:00 AM | Volleyball

Tommie Volleyball rallied from a 2-1 deficit in sets and edged visiting Carleton 3-2 Wednesday night in Schoenecker Arena.

Coach Thanh Pham's squad outlasted the Knights 22-25, 25-18, 18-25, 25-14, 15-10, avenging a 3-2 loss at Carleton from 2015.

That ended a two-match losing skid for the Tommies (14-6 overall, 5-2 MIAC).

St. Thomas trailed 10-9 in the fourth set but used a 15-3 run to stay alive and turn momentum. UST used a 5-1 run to build a 13-7 lead in the final set.

Whitney Lloyd had 15 kills and hit .387 with four blocks; Ellie Etzell had 15 kills and hit .440; Katharine Mallak had 49 assists; and Ellie Meyer had 26 digs.

The Tommies compete Friday and Saturday at the UW-Eau Claire Invitational, with matches against Martin Luther (9-15), Minnesota-Morris (9-10), UW-River Falls (13-10) and UW-Superior (7-16).
