St. Thomas women's tennis recorded one of its biggest wins in more than a decade with Saturday's 5-4 victory over Carleton at the St. Paul Academy courts.

The Knights (11-2 overall, 7-1 MIAC) are the defending MIAC champions and came in ranked eighth in the Central Region.

The Tommies (14-1, 7-0) won two doubles matches and broke even in singles on a day with several close battles. UST's Shelby Henderson and Jenna Czarnecki picked up a critical win at second doubles to put the Tommies up 2-1 heading into singles.

Freshman Caitlyn Bakke earned the team's decisive point, winning a third-set tiebreaker 10-8 while the match was tied 4-4.

Bridget Noack won at first doubles and second singles. Henderson lost 13-11 in her tie-breaker at first singles. Freshman Jenna Zimmerman remained unbeaten on the season in singles.
