The No. 7-ranked Tommie volleyball team (16-1) extended its home-court win streak to 20 over three seasons with four-set victory over the UW-Eau Claire Blugolds (10-8) Wednesday in Schoenecker Arena. It was a rematch of a 2011 NCAA playoff battle won 3-0 by the Tommies last November.

The win capped a 2-0 day for UST, which extended its season win streak to 11. St. Thomas improved to 5-0 on the season against Wisconsin state universities.

For UST in the win over the Blugolds, Kaiti Wachter had 31 digs; Kelly Foley had 14 kills and four blocks; Jill Greenfield had 12 kills; and Mackenzie Piechowski had 11 kills.

Eau Claire was led by Amy Bomgren's 16 kills, Tessa Snell's 14 kills, Lauren Sutherland's 18 digs, and Emiy Naeve's 43 assists.

Eau Claire scored a four-game win over Northwestern (10-7) in the preceding match.

In their 3-0 win over Northwestern, the Tommies won the last five points of the first set to win 25-23, and later took control with victories in the next two sets.

St. Thomas plays at Macalester on Friday (7 p.m.) and returns home Saturday for a 3 p.m. home game vs. St. Catherine. UST (3-0 MIAC) trails leader Concordia (4-0), a 3-2 home winner over St. Olaf on Wednesday.
