Men's Soccer stays hot, gets shutout win

Brett Day and Alex Bernhardt scored second-half goals to lift the Tommies (9-2-2) to Sunday's 2-0 win over Carroll (Wis.) (7-5) in non-conference men's soccer play at UST's South Field.
Coach Jon Lowery's Tommes have won five games in a row. Their last five goals have been scored by five different players.
Day found the net in the 73rd minute, assisted by Bernhardt. Then in the 83rd minute, Bernhardt added an insurance goal, assisted by his brother Ryan.
Keeper MItchell Wolff improved to 8-0-1 as he played all 90 minutes to secure UST's fifth shutout of the season. St. Thomas had an 8-2 advantage in corner kicks and a 9-4 edge in shots.
The Pioneers, NCAA playoff qualifiers in four of the last five seasons, had won six of their previous seven games.
UST is home Wednesday to face Macalester.
