Booth powers Women's Hoops into MIAC lead

St. Thomas (14-5 overall, 13-3 MIAC) used a monster game by senior center Rachel Booth and sizzling free-throw shooting to hold off St. Olaf, 68-59, in Monday night's MIAC women's basketball road victory in Northfield.
The Tommie win and St. Ben's 52-48 home loss to Bethel let the Toms tie the Blazers atop the MIAC standings with six games remaining.
UST has won 17 of its last 21 conference road games.
Booth had a season-high 28 points and 12 rebounds including two 3-point baskets. Freshman Maggie Weiers had 16 points and seven boards, including a 10-for-10 run at the foul line. Weiers made eight free throws in the final 1:40 to lead a 10-2 game-closing run.
Taylor Young had nine points and Jazmin Townsend chipped in eight.UST outrebounded the Oles 43-36.
UST is home for three consecutive games starting Wednesday night against St. Mary's.
