Softball sweeps Oles with 38 hits on the day

The No. 2-ranked St. Thomas softball team reached 25 wins on the season with Thursday's 6-1, 14-6 sweep at St. Olaf.
The Tommies (25-3 overall, 9-1 MIAC) pounded 38 hits on the day, with 16 different players recording at least one in game two. They raised their team batting average to .414.
Senior Missy Bruggeman went 5-for-6 on the day to lead the Tommies. Sarah Peters went 3-for-3; Alison Wright went 3-for-6; and Kaitlyn Wightman, Colleen Owen, Rachel Osdoba and Morgan Betker each went 3-for-5. Betker and Steph Moores homered.
Peters has hit safely in five consecutive plate appearances over her last three games.
Freshman Angie Phillips allowed three hits in six shutout innings in game one.
The Tommies just went 11-1 in a nine-day stretch. They are off until Tuesday when they play a twinbill at Augsburg.
