Drew Cremisino's three-run homer snapped a 5-5 tie and propelled No. 20-ranked St. Thomas to an 11-5 win over Macalester and a sweep of Friday's MIAC baseball doubleheader at UST's Koch Diamond. The Toms won the first game 5-2.

Fourteen different Tommies (14-5 overall, 3-1 MIAC) had at least one hit on the day. Twelve Toms combned for 16 hits in game two.

In game one, freshmen Bryce Gapinski (6.1 innings) and John Licht combined on a five-hitter. Tom Wippler went 3-for-3 and joined John Means, Louie Salmen and Tim Kahle with RBI singles as the home team built a 5-0 lead.

In game two, junior Matt Schuld allowed 10 hits and five runs through four innings but retired 11 of the last 12 batters. Mac escaped a one-out bases-loaded jam in the fourth inning with no runs, then started to work out of a jame in the fifth with two runners on as it got the lead runner at third on a bunt. But Cremisino's drive over the fence in left field put the Toms ahead 8-5, and they added three more runs in the sixth inning.

UST is off this weekend and is home Tuesday to face Concordia-Moorhead in a 2:30 p.m. conference twinbill.
