Foster, Osborne lead Volleyball to 3-1 win

Emily Foster had 56 assists and 13 digs to help No. 10-ranked St. Thomas rally for a 3-1 victory at Gustavus in MIAC volleyball play Wednesday in St. Peter. The win secured a first-round playoff bye for UST.
Gustavus (11-16 overall, 3-7 MIAC) pulled out the first set 28-26, but the Tommies won the next three by scores of 25-21, 25-23, 25-20.
St. Thomas (23-6, 9-1) trailed 15-10 in the fourth set, but used a 10-1 run to take control. UST has won 15 in a row in the series with the Gusties over the last 13 seasons.
Jill Osborne hit .520 with 15 kills and five blocks; Kyley Crotty had 15 kills and 20 digs; Kaitlin Wachrer had four aces and 24 digs; Alesha Nelson had 14 kills, hit .345 and had five blocks.
Coach Thanh Pham's Tommies are now 40-1 against conference foes over the last three seasons including 19 consecutive road or neutral-court victories.
The Tommies kept pace with St. Ben's atop the MIAC stamdings, as both moved to 9-1, with St. Olaf at 8-2. The Toms close the regular season Saturday at Augsburg, while the Blazers are home to play Concordia.
