Senior Lonnie Robinson threw his second shutout in seven days to help the 16th-ranked Tommies to a non-conference baseball split with No. 7-ranked UW-Oshkosh Tuesday morning in the Metrodome.
UST won game one 5-0, but lost the nightcap 7-3 on a five-run Titan rally in their last at-bat.
Senior Chris Bullis went 5-for-7 on the day with two triples for the Tommies (11-5). In his last 11 games over an 11-day stretch, Bullis is batting .700 with 23 hits, 14 runs and nine RBI.
Also staying hot was senior catcher Matt Pexa. In his last 12 games over the 11-day span, Pexa is hitting .433 with 16 hits and 13 runs.
Robinson threw a four-hit shutout and walked none with six strikeouts. Roy Larson's two-RBI single put UST ahead 3-0 in the fourth inning. Bullis' two-run triple in the seventh inning pushed the lead to 5-0.
In game two, junior Erik Olson gave up a single and home run in the first inning, then retired 16 of the next 17 batters and left with a 3-2 lead. WIth one out in the bottom of the seventh, Matt McQuillan singled and scored on Pexa's triple. Bullis' triple tied the game, and Taylor Rahm's RBI single put UST ahead 3-2.
Zach Neubauer relieved to start the seventh. He got a strikeout but allowed a double that put the tying run in scoring position. Matt Schuld relieved but allowed five hits -- one on a fly ball lost in the lights -- as the Titans (5-2) scored five runs to break open the game.
Olson didn't walk a batter and struck out four in six innings.
The Tommies are scheduled to open MIAC play Saturday at home vs. Bethel, but that game likely will be postponed. The soonest the teams could play outdoors would be Monday.
