Lauren Bradel had 21 saves and second-seed St. Thomas received goals from four different players in Saturday's 4-2 victory over third-seed Concordia-Moorhead in an MIAC women's hockey playoff semifinal game in Mendota Heights.
The Tommies (21-5), who never trailed, will go on the road to face top-seed Gustavus in Wednesday's championship game. The Gusties won 5-0 over Hamline to stay unbeaten in 19 conference matches this season.
Kelley Fallen's unassisted second-period goal put the Toms ahead 1-0. The match stayed 1-0 until Marie Omann's goal made it 2-0 with 7:52 left in the third period. The Cobbers answered with Mandi Samuelson's power-play goal with 5:16 left to make it 2-1. But a penalty was called on the next faceoff and UST's Rachel Zilles converted a power-play goal to make it 3-1 with 4:46 remaining.
Concordia's Bre Bian scored with 4:08 to go to make it 3-2, but the Toms used an empty-net goal by Kristine Beese with 19 seconds to go to seal the victory.
