Sophomore Kristine Beese scored two goals in a 17-second span and added an assist to lead the St. Thomas women's hockey team to a 9-1 victory over visiting St. Olaf in a non-conference game Wednesday night in Mendota Heights.

The season-opening win gave Tom Palkowski a victory in his first game as the Tommies' head coach.

Sophomore Katie Carrico had a goal and an assist; senior Ashley Reinhardt and sophomore Rachel Zilles added goals; and junior Jackie Carroll chipped in two assists.

The Toms led 3-0 after the first 16:00, then broke it open with six goals in period two. Omann's short-handed goal 4:52 into the second period made it 4-0. Omann now has five short-handed tallies among eight career goals over 26 games.

The Toms made it 8-0 midway through the period as they blitzed the Oles with four goals in 90 seconds capped by Beese's two scores.
