Volleyball tops BU; streak hits 16

The No. 6-ranked St. Thomas volleyball team ran its season win streak to 16 with Wednesday's 3-0 home-court victory over Bethel. The Tommies won 30-25, 30-25, 30-27 to hand the Royals their first conference loss.
Katie McCaffrey had 15 kills, three aces, five assisted blocks and hit .385 to lead UST (16-2 overall, 6-0 MIAC). Emily Foster added 46 assists; Kristin Storrs had 11 kills and five assisted blocks; freshman Carlie Waibel had 13 kills; Aly McConnell had 13 digs; and Katie Zazverskey and Katie Kremer each had 11 digs.
Kelly Otto and Stephanie Schmidt each had 11 kills for Bethel (13-3, 5-1).
In their 16-match win streak, the Tommies have won 14 consecutive games (four 3-0 sweeps) since a game-two loss to Concordia Sept. 19. They will play this Friday and Saturday at the Iowa-Minnesota Border Battle in Indianola, Iowa.
