Junior Nick Pernula scored a goal and an assist in a four-goal second period to lead No. 11-ranked St. Thomas (2-2) to a 4-1 home victory over Lake Forest (2-4) in non-conference men's hockey action Saturday night in Mendota Heights, Minn.

Sophomore Cameron Voss stopped 16 of 17 shots in goal for the Tommies, who halted a two-game losing streak.

Freshman Alex Arnason and Pernula scored in a 90-second span to start the second period for a 2-0 UST lead. Later in the frame, Kevin Rollwagen and Andrew Panchenko scored in a 27-second span to build the lead to 4-0.

LFC's Chris Theiss averted a shutout as he tipped in a loose puck in front of the UST goal with under 9:00 to play.

St. Thomas was the lone MIAC men's team to win Saturday night as seven other teams lost.
