Women's Hockey gets 2-2 tie with Amherst

No. 8-ranked St. Thomas outshot visiting Amherst (Mass.) 30-17 but the teams played to a 2-2 overtime tie Monday night in non-conference women's hockey play in Mendota Heights.
Junior Becky Kilpatrick stopped 15 of 17 shots for the Toms (10-2-2). Freshman Courtney Sekevitch and junior Allison O'Hara had goals and freshmen Holly Noble and Kallie Tabor had assists. O'Hara's tying goal was her first of the season and third of her two-year UST career.
Rachel Simon had a power-play goal and an assist and Leah Kaplan also scored for the Jeffs (3-5-4). Lindsay Grabowski stopped 28 of 30 shots in 60 minutes in goal.
St. Thomas resumes conference play Friday vs. St. Catherine (6 p.m., U of M's Ridder Arena). The teams play Saturday on UST's home ice (2 p.m.).
