Men's Hockey gets 6-2 win over No. 13-rated Lake Forest

Junior Brandon Wilcox recorded a hat trick and senior goalie Zach Sikich stopped 23 of 25 shots as No. 10-ranked St. Thomas zipped past No. 13 Lake Forest 6-2 Saturday in non-conference men's hockey on home ice in Mendota Heights.
Senior All-American Dustan Lick had three assists and Dan Krmpotich had a goal and two assists for the Tommies (2-0), who had a 36-25 edge in shots over Lake Forest (2-1).
UST beat its second ranked team on home ice in as many nights. The Tommies topped No. 2 St. Norbert's 5-3 on Friday. Lick had six points on the weekend and now has 95 career points.
The Foresters (2-1) edged St. Thomas 4-3 in November 2003 en route to an 18-win season.
St. Thomas killed off all 11 St. Norbert power-play tries Friday. The Toms blanked the Foresters on five power-play bids before the weekend streak ended on a Lake Forest power-play goal with three minutes left in the contest.
UST outshot LFC 13-2 in the first period. St. Thomas broke to a 3-0 lead in the first 17 minutes as Wilcox scored 37 seconds in and tallied again at 6:11 of the first period. Anthony Blumer's power-play goal at 16:58 made it 3-0.
The Foresters scored late in the first on a goal by Dave Williams, but UST scored twice more in the second on goals by Dan Krmpotich and Wilcox for a 5-1 lead.
UST's Brady Fougner scored in the third period for a 6-1 lead before Tyler Steen scored at 17:02 on the power play.
St. Thomas hosts No. 4-rated Wisconsin-River Falls Friday on hoem ice.
