William "Wee" Walsh coached the Tommie football team, leading them to a 23-1 record and two MIAC titles from 1941-43. Those three teams went 15-0 against the MIAC and outscored conference opponents 319-39. Walsh's 1942 St. Thomas team was one of just 23 undefeated, untied teams in nation. He was also the Tommies' head hockey coach for three seasons. He led the Tommies to three MIAC titles on ice, with a 15-1-2 record in conference games.
