Paul Sokol graduated from the University of St. Thomas with a BA in 1938. After graduation, Sokol came back to coach the Tommies for seven years, leading them to a 117-57 record. His team won the 1948-49 MIAC title and had a 33-5 conference record in his first three seasons. His 1948-49 team went 22-7, going on to play in the NAIA National tournament in Kansas City.
