Joe Brandy

Joe Brandy was the University of St. Thomas football coach from 1921-1926. During his tenure, he built a 33-7-1 record with the team, including a 16-game win streak from 1922-24. He led the 1922 MIAC title team and the 9-0 team of 1923 that outscored opponents 195-24. Brandy coached the Tommies' state champion teams of 1922, 1923, 1924, and 1925. Also coached basketball, baseball, and hockey teams that all won MIAC titles. Brandy also coached at the pro level for one season, taking the title of head coach for the NFL's Minneapolis Marines in 1924. In college, Brandy was the starting quarterback at Notre Dame under Coach Knute Rockne, and was the backfield mate of All-American George Gipp on Notre Dame's unbeaten 1920 team.
