Pat Casey returns to the Tommie staff as an assistant coach in July 2026 after serving as an assistant coach at Minnesota State Mankato (2025-26), the University of Minnesota (2014-2024), Butler University (2013) and right here at St. Thomas (2007-2012).  

In the fall of 2012, Casey was selected by the Minnesota Twins to attend the Major League Baseball Scouting and Development School. He then served as an associate scout for the Twins in the Midwest during the spring and summer of 2013. In April 2020, Casey became officially certified under the IFPA as a Biomechanics of Sports Specialist. 

During his time at Minnesota State Mankato, Casey helped lead the Mavericks to a 2025 NSIC Conference and Tournament Championship while leading the NSIC in offense (Top 7 nationally).  

At the University of Minnesota, Casey spent time as the recruiting coordinator (2018-2024), 3rd Base Coach/Baserunning instructor (2019-2024), hitting coach (2014-2024) and catching coach (2014-2024). 

In 2013 at Butler University, Casey was the jack of all trades, working with hitters, infielders, catchers, and baserunners. He also was the team travel coordinator and recruiter. 

At the Major League Level, Pat was an Associate Scout for the Minnesota Twins doing Midwest scouting and was assistant to Mark Wilson. Casey also served as the Big League Dreams Showcase Director.  

Casey spent two summers in the Northwoods League with the Waterloo Bucks, leading them to a 130-81 overall record. He was named the 2013 Northwoods Coach of the Year. 

From 2007-2012, Casey got his start in coaching right here at St. Thomas on Coach Olean's staff. He was a volunteer assistant from Sept. 2007- May 2008, before becoming the catching & hitting coach from Sept. 2008 – Jan. 2013. In between those duties, Casey also served as the recruiting coordinator (2010-13) and Sports Information and Online Production from Aug. 2010 – Jan. 2013. 

A native of Bloomington, Minnesota, Casey graduated from the University of St. Thomas in 2010 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English and Literature Arts with a Writing Emphasis. Casey also played Division II baseball at the University of North Dakota from 2005-07.
