Jay MacIntyre joined the St. Thomas football coaching staff in 2025 as the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach. This will be his first season with the Tommies.

Prior to joining St. Thomas, MacIntyre served as the wide receivers coach at both Florida International University (FIU) and UT Martin. He spent three seasons in Florida, leading the Panthers to new heights as they averaged over 3000 all-purpose yards each season. Wide receiver, Eric Rivers earn First Team All-Conference honors from the Conference USA in MacIntyre's final season at FUI after breaking the Panthers' single-season receiving yards and touchdowns record. The junior amassed 1172 receiving yards and 12 touchdowns, both of which led Conference USA, and ranked top-5 in FBS football in both categories. Junior Dean Patterson also received All-Conference recognition in 2024 under MacIntyre's tutelage.

MacIntyre also spent time at UT Martin where he was the wide receivers coach and passing game coordinator from 2020-2021. During the abbreviated 2020 campaign, UT Martin led the OVC in passing offense (258.9 yards) while featuring a pair of All-OVC honorees from Colton Dowell and Donnell Williams. Dowell ranked amongst OVC leaders in receptions (40, first), receiving yards (459, second), touchdowns (four, second), receptions per game (5.7, second) and receiving yards per game (65.6, third). Williams also ranked amongst the league's elite in receiving yards per game (74.2, second), receiving yards (445, fourth), receptions per game (4.88, fifth), receptions (29, seventh), touchdowns (three, seventh) and yards per catch (15.3, ninth).

MacIntyre's coaching resume also includes a stint at Southeastern (Fla.) University in 2019. In his one season with the program, the Fire averaged 43.5 points per game fueled by a passing offense that averaged 304.5 yards per game. Additionally, eighth different wide receivers eclipsed 100 receiving yards during the season and averaged 15.5 per catch.

MacIntyre graduated from the University of Colorado in Boulder in 2018 after an impressive four year career with the Buffalo football program. At the conclusion of his playing career, MacIntyre ranked 26th all-time in career receptions (86) and 30th with 1035 receiving yards. He was voted team captain as a senior and received both the Carl Barry Leadership Award and Iron Buffalo Award during his playing career.
