    Assistant Coach
Jason Carter is entering his first season with the Tommie Women's Hockey program as an assistant coach after joining the staff in May 2026.

Carter joins the Tommie staff with a variety of coaching experience, both at the Division 1 and 3 levels. Most recently, Carter spent three years as an assistant coach at Dartmouth College, where he assisted with all aspect of the program while overseeing the forwards and power play units.

Prior to Dartmouth, Carter was the head coach at Northland College from 2020-2023. During his time with the Jills he led the program to its first-ever playoff victory during the 2022-23 season and earned 2023 Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Coach of the Year honors.

Carter's college coaching career began in 2017 at Saint Mary's University of Minnesota as an assistant for three seasons. He helped lead the Cardinals to the  Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) semifinals in 2020.

From 2014-2017, Carter was a Health and Physical Education Teacher at Shakopee Public Schools.

Carter has coached at numerous USA Hockey national camps, including the 2023 USA Hockey-BioSteel Girls 15 Player Development Camp in July of 2023. 

Carter graduated from the University of St. Thomas with a Bachelor of Arts in physical education in 2013. He then earned a master's degree in educational leadership from Saint Mary's University of Minnesota in May of 2018.
