Jackie Richter is entering her first season as an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator with St. Thomas Volleyball in 2024, bringing more than two decades of elite coaching experience and a Hall of Fame resume to the Tommies’ sideline.
A celebrated leader at both the high school and club levels, Richter most recently served as head coach at Lakeville North High School, where she managed a five-team program, led a dedicated coaching staff, and directed operations from scheduling and fundraising to community engagement. Her leadership powered Lakeville North to four Minnesota State Tournament appearances (2017, 2019, 2021, 2022), including a 2017 state championship title. She earned State Coach of the Year honors twice (2017, 2022), was a Minnesota Sports Awards Coach of the Year finalist (2018), and was inducted into the Minnesota Volleyball Coaches Association Hall of Fame in 2024.
In the club circuit, Richter coached with Mizuno Northern Lights Volleyball Club, preparing athletes for national competition and college recruitment. Her teams consistently achieved high-level success, including multiple Northern Lights Qualifier championships and international titles, such as the 2012 International East Volley Tournament Championship in Italy. Several of her teams also captured AAU National Tournament titles.
Before her Lakeville North tenure, Richter spent nearly a decade building Minneapolis Southwest High School’s volleyball program into a powerhouse, advancing its section ranking from 17th to 4th during her time. She also pioneered the school’s first volleyball coaches manual and launched its program website to enhance communication and visibility.
A decorated student-athlete herself, Richter earned Academic and Athletic All-Big Ten honors while competing for the University of Minnesota. She holds a master’s degree in kinesiology and a bachelor’s degree in French studies with a coaching licensure from Minnesota.
Richter lives in Eagan with her husband Chad and their four children: Tori, Josie, Riley and Jordie.
