Hunter Rud joined St. Thomas Athletics in October 2026 as Assistant Director of Athletic Events and Operations.
Prior to joining the Tommies, Rud served as Assistant Director of Recreational Services and Intramural Director at Augustana University, where he led intramural sports programming, managed event operations and supervised student staff. He also supported athletic events at Augustana, including operating NCAA replay systems for the university’s Division I hockey program. In addition, Rud served as an adjunct professor of sport management, teaching undergraduate courses and mentoring students pursuing careers in the sports industry.
Rud gained professional sports experience as a Guest Experience Representative with the Jacksonville Jaguars during the 2023-24 season and as a Game Day Operations Intern with the Jacksonville Sharks in 2023. His previous experience also includes supervising campus recreation operations at the University of Florida and officiating baseball at multiple competitive levels.
Rud earned a master’s degree in sport management from the University of Florida in 2023, graduating with a 4.0 GPA, and a bachelor’s degree in multidisciplinary studies with an emphasis in aviation studies from the University of Nebraska at Omaha in 2021, graduating summa cum laude. He is currently pursuing a Doctor of Education in Leadership at the University of Sioux Falls.
