Former Tommie All-American athlete Connor O’Neill joined St. Thomas Track & Field as an assistant coach in September of 2022. He joined the Tommies after spending four seasons at St. Olaf College.
Now in his fourth year coaching at St. Thomas, O’Neill has guided three Summit League champions and seven All-Conference performers in the combined events, as well as six All-Conference hurdlers. Among his standout athletes is decathlete Jack Rosner, who rose to a No. 20 national Division I ranking. Jack also represented the United States while competing in the 2025 World University Games in Germany where O'Neill was selected to be the team's coach for the combined-events athletes.
Most recently, O'Neill served as the interim head coach of the women's track and field program in 2022, leading the program to a third-place finish at the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) Outdoor Championships and a fourth-place showing at the MIAC Indoor Championships.
Over O'Neill's four seasons with St. Olaf, the program produced 9 All-Americans, 66 All-MIAC honorees, and 124 performances on the program's all-time top-10 lists.
O’Neill earned his Master’s degree in Exercise Science from Concordia University, St. Paul. He holds certifications in strength and conditioning through the NSCA and the USTFCCCA as well as his USTFCCCA Jumps certification.
O'Neill graduated from the University of St. Thomas in 2018 with a Bachelor's of Science in physics while competing as a member of the track & field teams. He holds the school and MIAC records in the pole vault. He also qualified for the NCAA championships in the decathlon and heptathlon.
