Schoenecker Arena is the current home to Tommie Volleyball - the former home for Tommie Men's and Women's Basketball - and was part of a $52 million project to construct the Anderson Athletic and Recreation Complex in 2010. The AARC was just one part of a three-part project named after primary donors Lee and Penny Anderson.

Head Volleyball Coach Thahn Pham has guided the program through the entirety of the Schoenecker era, holding a 94-44 record at home since 2010. The first match at Schoenecker Arena came Sept. 15, 2010 (a 3-1 loss to nationally-ranked St. Olaf), while the first match at Schoenecker Arena during the Division I era came Sept. 30, 2021 (a 3-2 win over North Dakota).

Steve Fritz Court, named for the legendary former St. Thomas basketball player, coach and athletic director, is a parquet-style maple floor, and sits in the center of an arena that features a 10-foot by 16-foot video board and 36 Bose speakers.

The Schoenecker Arena was previously the home for Tommie Men's and Women's Basketball from 2010-25 before the construction of the Lee & Penny Anderson Arena. The men's program completed its tenure with a record of 163-31, including a perfect 14-0 record during its final season in 2024-25, while the women's program finished with a 168-38 record within the walls of Schoenecker Arena.
