Tommies sweep Augustana in final home dual of 2025-26

ST. PAUL, MINN. – The University of St. Thomas swim and dive programs completed in their final home dual of the 2025-26 regular season. The Tommies won 20 of 31 events Thursday evening to sweep the visiting Augustana Vikings in the final home dual of the season. St. Thomas women defeated the Vikings 195.5-104.5 and the men won 168-130.
 
WOMEN'S RESULTS: ST. THOMAS (195.5) vs. AUGUSTANA (104.5)
The Tommie women won 11 events Thursday night, including 10 races against Augustana.
  • St. Thomas "A" team won the 400 medley relay, the first event of the evening. The team of Jordyn Davis (Cambridge, Wis. / Cambridge), Brooke Gothard (Golden, Colo. / Wheat Ridge), Izzy Shering (Sheffield, England) and Ellie Undem (Chisago City, Minn. / Chisago Lakes) won the relay with a time of 3:56.15. 
  • Individually, Tessa Lindstrom (Rosemount, Minn. / Visitation) won her first event as a Tommie, claiming first place in the 1000 freestyle. Lindstrom won the race with a time of 10:47.19.
  • Sophia Hayes (Naperville, Ill. / Central) won two races on Thursday: the 200 and 500 freestyle. Hayes won the 200 with a time of 1:58.02 and the 500 with a time of 5:10.49.
  • Shering won her first individual race with St. Thomas, claiming first in the 200 fly with a time of 2:11.79. She also finished second in the 100 fly with a time of 1:00.78.  
  • Undem continued to dominate the 100 freestyle, winning the race with a time of 53.25. Teammates Amber Hess (Kohler, Wis. / Kohler) and Jane Busboom (Blair, Neb. / Fremont) finished second and third in the race with time of 54.42 and 54.54 respectively.
  • Davis won the 200 backstroke and the 100 fly, claiming the top spot in the 200 back with a time of 2:06.32. She then won the 100 fly with a time of 58.73.
  • Davis won the 50 and 100 backstroke with times of 26.57 and 56.56 respectively.
  • Gothard won the 400 IM, beating out teammate Tessa Jones (Marengo, Ill. / Marian Central Catholic) with a time of 4:35.05. Jones took second with a time of 4:43.84.
  • On the boards, Maya Kelly (Lake Elmo, Minn. / Stillwater) continued to impress, finishing second in the 1-meter and winning the 3-meter with a score of 272.75.  
  • St. Thomas also won the final race of the day, the 400 freestyle relay. The team of Mary Selden (Davenport, Iowa / Central), Hess, Busboom and Undem won the race with a time of 3:35.37.
  • Several other St. Thomas swimmers and divers earned top finishes Thursday. Click here for full results.
MEN'S RESULTS: ST. THOMAS (168) vs. AUGUSTANA (130)
St. Thomas put together several strong performances in Anderson Pool, winning multiple individual races and events Thursday in St. Paul.
  • The Tommie "A" team won the 400 medley relay to open the evening. The team of Philip Jensen (Hastings, Minn. / Hastings), Joseph Sandhoefner (Minnetonka, Minn. / Benilde-Saint Margaret), John Trosper (Clive, Iowa / Waukee) and Nicholas Salido (Kansas City, Mo. / Rockhurst) won the race with a time of 3:26.08.  
  • Charlie Folks (Eden Prairie, Minn. / Eden Prairie) won two events Thursday, claiming the top spot in the 100 free and the 400 IM. The junior won the 100 with a time of 9:59.81 before winning the 400 IM with a time of 4:12.74.
  • Leonard won the 200 free with a time of 1:43.36 and finished second in the 100 with a time of 47.92.
  • Lucas Becker (Victoria, Minn. / Chanhassen) swept the backstroke races, winning the 100 with a time of 50.49 and the 200 with a time of 1:52.53.
  • Trosper won the 200 fly with a time of 1:54.56.
  • Tommy Seiler (Menomonee Falls, Wis. / Menomonee Falls) won the 500 freestyle, beating Trosper with a time of 4:44.03.
  • On the boards, Benjamin Mattera (Wayzata, Minn. / Breck) won the 3-meter competition with a score of 289.15.  
  • Several other St. Thomas swimmers and divers earned top finishes Thursday. Click here for full results.
UP NEXT
St. Thomas will return to the pool on Saturday, January 17. The Tommies will travel to Minneapolis, Minnesota for triangular with Minnesota and South Dakota State. The meet will begin at 12:00 p.m.
