MBB to face Montana State, Weber State in Big Sky-Summit Challenge

Tommies to travel to play Bobcats Dec. 3, host Wildcats Dec. 6 in Lee & Penny Anderson Arena
SIOUX FALLS, S.D. -- The Summit League and Big Sky Conference announced its 2025-26 lineup for the third annual Big Sky-Summit Challenge on Wednesday, which features St. Thomas on the road Dec. 3 at Montana State and at the Lee & Penny Anderson Arena Dec. 6 against Weber State.
This will be the third meeting all-time between St. Thomas and Montana State, previously playing in 2021-22 and 2022-23, and will be the first meeting ever against Weber State. The Tommies are 8-3 against Big Sky programs since joining Division I, including eight straight wins since the 2022-23 season.
Montana State went 15-18 overall and 9-9 in conference play while Weber State finished 12-22 overall and 5-13 in the Big Sky Conference last season.
St. Thomas is the only program between both conferences to go a perfect 4-0 in the Big Sky-Summit Challenge since its first year in 2023-24. The Purple beat Idaho and Sacramento State during the inaugural challenge in 2023-24 before sweeping 25-win and Co-Regular Season Big Sky Champions Northern Colorado (on the road) and Montana (NCAA Tournament qualifier) last season.
The Summit League has claimed the challenge trophy in both seasons after winning the 2024-25 installment 24.5-17.
The matchups for the series are determined annually using data from past seasons, including NET rankings and regular-season conference finishes, along with consideration for the prior season matchups. The Big Sky-Summit Challenge is a three-year challenge series that started in 2023-24. Each men's and women's team plays one home and one road game against two opponents from the other conference every season.
