Men's Golf unveils 2024 Fall schedule

The University of St. Thomas Men’s Golf team will play four Fall tournaments before the end of 2024.
ST. PAUL, Minn. – University of St. Thomas Men's Golf head coach Matt Rachey has added a pair of new invitationals to his Fall schedule, including the inaugural Tommie Invitational at StoneRidge Golf Club in Stillwater. "We are very excited to host our own invitational at our home course. We will be hosting eight teams here in Minnesota and look forward to showcasing the course," said Rachey.
The season kicks off with another invitational in the Land of 10,000 Lakes on September 8-9 in Maple Plain, Minn. The Gopher Invitational will take place at Windsong Farm Golf Club. The tournament played host to 14 teams during the 2023 season with the University of North Carolina Wilmington coming out on top with a team score, seven strokes under par.
"The Gopher Invitational will be our most difficult tournament of the fall season. It is a full-circle moment having played collegiately in the competition and now returning as a coach. There will be some of the best teams in the nation participating in the Gopher, including the likes of Baylor, New Mexico, West Virginia, and Iowa State, to name a few. We are ready to showcase St. Thomas Men's Golf on the national stage in our home state," detailed coach Rachey.
A trip down to West Des Moines, Iowa, comes next on the schedule as the Tommies return to the Zach Johnson Invitational on September 23-24 at the Glen Oaks Country Club. The Purple put up a valiant fight on the final day of competition at the event in 2023 and rose four spots for a sixth-place finish out of the 13 teams competing. When asked why Rachey put the invitational back on the schedule in 2024, he answered, "The Zach Johnson Invitational is hosted at a great golf course. Glen Oaks was a previous stop on the Champions Tour professional circuit. As a college coach, you want to create a schedule that has some familiar venues and ultimately put your team in a position to succeed. It is a fantastic event, and we are grateful to Coach Matt Lewis for the invitation."
Next up is the Tommie Invitational at StoneRidge Golf Course in Stillwater, Minn. from September 30 to October 1. The competition is the first of what Coach Rachey hopes will be an annual event at the Tommies' home course, "A big thank you goes out to StoneRidge general manager Joel Burger for his continued support of Tommie Golf and his belief in this event."
The Tommies wrap their fall schedule with another familiar meet, the Throw Down "Up Top" at Landmand Golf Course in Homer, Nebraska, from October 7-9. The team took fourth out of the eight-team field in 2023, Creighton won the event shooting 35 under par. "Landmand is a breathtaking venue, it may be one of the most unique and memorable golf courses in the Midwest. The event continues to grow each year and we are blessed to be invited by South Dakota," said Rachey.
The Tommies' 2025 Spring schedule will be released at a later date.
