Anthony, Bjorklund named to All-Summit League Second Team

Anthony also earned spot on Summit League All-Newcomer Team
SIOUX FALLS, S.D. -- For the second consecutive season, St. Thomas men's basketball placed two student-athletes on All-Summit League teams and a selection to the league's All-Newcomer Team as the league announced its annual awards Thursday.
Anthony and Bjorklund were both named to the All-Summit League Second Team while Anthony is also a member of the Summit League All-Newcomer Team. Bjorklund earned his second consecutive nod to the league's second team while Anthony joins Andrew Rohde as back-to-back selections to the newcomer team for St. Thomas.
Bjorklund, a graduate student from Chaska, Minn., leads St. Thomas in scoring with 13.5 points per game and is fourth in the Summit League in field goal percentage and 10th in total field goal attempts. He has scored double digit points in 22 of 31 games this season, including a career high 32 points with nine rebounds Jan. 25 in a win over North Dakota State. Bjorklund has two double-doubles this season and led the Tommies in scoring in 14 games and in rebounds in 11 games.
Anthony, a graduate student from Chicago, Ill., is second for St. Thomas in scoring overall but has led the team during the conference season with 14.6 points per game. He has 19 double-digit scoring games with four 20+ point games, including a 32-point and eight-rebound game Jan. 27 against North Dakota. Anthony leads the Tommies and is fourth in the Summit League in steals per game, fifth in assists per game and ninth in free throw percentage. He is one of three Summit League student-athletes with multiple eight-assist games and is second in the Summit League among newcomers in points per game.
South Dakota State's Zeke Mayo was named the Summit League Player of the Year while teammate William Kyle III was selected the Defensive Player of the Year. Kansas City brought home four individual awards including Newcomer of the Year in Jamar Brown, Freshman of the Year in Jayson Petty, Sixth Man of the Year in Khristion Courseault and Coach of the Year in Marvin Menzies.

No. 4 St. Thomas will take on No. 5 North Dakota State at 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 10 in the quarterfinal round of the Summit League Tournament. The winner will advance to Monday's semifinal, where they will play either No. 1 South Dakota State or the winner of Oral Roberts/South Dakota at 6:00 p.m. The Summit League Tournament Championship will be held on Tuesday, March 12 at 8:30 p.m., and the winner will earn the conference's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament, with the exception of St. Thomas. All games will take place at the Danny Sanford PREMIER Center in Sioux Falls, S.D.
