Women’s Tennis welcomes the Golden Eagles

Tommie Tennis looks to secure Summit League victory over Oral Roberts on Saturday

ST. PAUL, Minn. – The St. Thomas Women's Tennis team welcomes the Oral Robert Golden Eagles this weekend for a Summit League competition. Match time is set for 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 23. 
 
History against the Golden Eagles 
  • Oral Roberts holds a 2-0 record over St. Thomas Tennis.  
  • The Golden Eagles most recently defeated the Tommies 4-3 last season in Tulsa, Okla.  
Last Time Out 
The St. Thomas Women's Tennis team traveled to Missouri to face Kansas City in a conference match. The Tommies fell in a close match to the Roos by a score of 4-3.     

In the No. 3, 4 and 5 singles spots, 
Caroline Lindahl (6-4, 6-7, 6-2), Olivia Paradise (6-4, 6-7, 7-2), and Yinong Ma (7-5, 6-4) earned victories in singles action for the Purple. Marthe Degeorges took her Kansas City opponent to three sets, but ultimately fell in the top singles spots.   
 
Strong Start 
St. Thomas has started the 2024 season strong, recording a 6-6 record in the first half of the season.  
 
The Tommies have set a new program win record in the DI era (6) and have tripled the number of victories from a season ago.  
 
The doubles pairing of Yinong Ma and Olivia Paradise remain dominant in doubles play, posting a 6-2 overall record in doubles competition so far this season. 
 
Yinong Ma (9-3 overall) Caroline Lindahl (6-5 overall), Olivia Paradise (8-4 overall) lead the Tommies in singles play, all recording at least five singles victories so far this season.   
 
Spring Schedule 
The Tommie Tennis spring season will consist of 21 matches, including seven at home. Summit League play began for the Tommies as they hosted nationally ranked Denver on March 2. The Purple will face off with six Summit League opponents this season, consisting of three home and three away matches. 
 
The Tommies will be road warriors the back half of the season, playing the final seven of eight matches on the road. During this time St. Thomas will travel down to Louisiana and Mississippi to play four non-conference opponents.
