Pankratz earns program’s first Academic All-Summit League honors

<div style="text-align: justify;">SIOUX FALLS, S.D. -- Junior Ava Pankratz combined academic and athletic standing in 2023 to become St. Thomas women's cross country's first ever Summit League Academic All-League selection, as the academic team was announced by the Summit League office Tuesday. Pankratz, a native of Eau Claire, Wis., has helped elevate Tommie Women's Cross Country on the course and in the classroom, placing among the top 33 of the Summit League Championships over each of her three seasons along with a 4.0 grade-point-average as a biology major. Pankratz totaled two top 30 finishes in 2023, including a 30th place finish during the 6K race in 22:40.0 at the 2023 Summit League Championships. She also took 25th at the 5K Augustana Twilight in a time of 18:36.6. Pankratz later set her 5K personal record at the Joe Piane Invitational (18:14.8/37th) and 6K personal best at the Bradley Pink Classic (22:05.1/50th). Zach Haire preceded Pankratz as the only other St. Thomas men's or women's cross country student-athlete to be selected to the academic team. Haire was a two-time selection of the academic team in 2021 and 2022. Pankratz was named to the 2023 College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Team last year.
