Look for our M-W Hockey, M-W Swim-Dive and Women's Tennis teams to make their 2022-23 debuts over the next 17 days.
Our Softball and Baseball squads are playing a few fall scrimmages, too.
Believe it or not, Women's Soccer is at the exact halfway point of its 11-week competitive schedule on the calendar and has less than six weeks left in its season.
None of the Tommie teams have opened conference play thus far. Here's when those competitions start:
- In the Pioneer Football League, St. Thomas starts an eight-game league slate on Oct. 1 at Marist
- In the Summit League, Tommie Volleyball opens its 18-game Summit League schedule at home on Sept. 22 against North Dakota State; Women's Soccer starts a nine-game league schedule at home on Sept. 23 against Kansas City; Men's Soccer starts conference play at home on Sept. 24 vs. Eastern Illinois
- In the WCHA, Women's Hockey plays two at Wisconsin on Oct. 7-8
- In the CCHA, Men's Hockey plays two on Oct. 28-29 at Ferris State
- M-W Cross Country teams run in the Summit championship meet on Sat. Oct. 29
Games to Watch

On Saturday Oct. 8, reigning Pioneer Football League champion Davidson plays at St. Thomas Football (1 p.m.); and reigning Summit League champ Denver is at Tommie Men's Soccer (noon).

Roster Makeup
Here's a birds-eye view of Tommie rosters for this school year:
Our more than 500 student-athletes competing this year include individuals from 31 states from coast-to-coast. Football's 110-player roster includes players from 18 different states.
There are also a record 20 international students on Tommie rosters. Men's Soccer, Women's Hockey and Women's Tennis have four each, with three ready to help Men's Hockey. The athletes come from Canada, Mexico, Puerto Rico, India, China, Switzerland, Hungary, Haiti, Bosnia, France, the Netherlands and Egypt.
Approximately 60 percent of athletes on all Tommie teams in 2022-23 are Minnesota natives, down slightly from the D-III era.
As a point of reference, during the 2018-19 school year -- the last compete Division III season here before Covid interruptions -- St. Thomas' 700 student-athletes included 66 percent from Minnesota, and just six international students. The 2022-23 St. Thomas rosters are expected to have approximately 185 athletes from our Division III era who are juniors, seniors or grad students, with another 300-plus who joined our teams last year or this year.
