Redshirt sophomore Zach Haire placed fourth in a field of 62 runners to lead St. Thomas Men's Cross Country to second place out of eight teams in the Summit League Championships Saturday in Tulsa, Okla.
The Tommies put eight runners in the top 22 and closed out an outstanding first season in Divison I.
Coach Pete Wareham's young lineup has only one senior in its top seven. The Purple had four excellent team performances in four meets against Division I opponents, beating three regionally-ranked teams in a race earlier this month.
Regionally-ranked South Dakota State went 1-2-3 individually on Saturday, and scored 17 points and won the program's sixth consecutive Summit championship.
Haire clocked 24:48 and made first-team All-Summit.
Making second-team all-conference were the trio of redshirt soph Colton Halla (25:07), redshirt freshman Charles Caven (25:13) and senior Biel Wiel, who placed 8-9-10.
Placing 15-18-19 were redshirt soph Morey Smith (25:32), redshirt freshman Harris Anderson (25:47), and true freshman Tony Weeks (25:48).
Other Tommie competitors were Mac Karrick (22nd, 25:59), Keegan Sansone (28th, 26:10) and Adam McCollor (37th, 26:33).
