Women's CC has top-five finish, beats other ranked teams

Led by senior Katie Breuckman's 15th-place finish, No. 15-ranked Tommie Women's Cross Country placed fifth out of 37 teams Saturday in Louisville, Ky., at the Pre-Nationals meet.
St. Thomas beat six other nationally-ranked Division III teams. No. 7-ranked MIT won with 90, and was followed in the 2-3-4-5-6-7-8 team spots by No. 14-ranked Oberlin (95), No. 16 Hope (148), No. 11 RPI (170), the Tommies (179), No. 27 Baldwin-Wallace (204), No. 31 John Carroll (236) and No. 22 Case Western (281).
St. Thomas grouped its first four in the top 45. Breuckman placed 15th out of 253 finishers in 21:37.3. She was followed by Jenny Launder (31st, 21:49), Olivia Moll (33rd, 21:50), Sara Ness (43rd, 21:55), Sara Miller (57th, 22:10), Molly Clarke (62nd, 22:12) and Martha Hubbell (66th, 22:14).
