Men's CC runs to first place at Crown

Senior Jacob Gerhartz and junior Trevor Smith led a huge pack of Tommie men's cross country runners in Saturday's winning performance at the three-team Crown Invitational. UST had 18 of the top 19 finishers as it scored 16 points to top Concordia-St. Paul (50) and Crown (72).
Gerhartz took first in a field of 40 runners in 27:31, with Smith 10 seconds back in 27:41.
Freshman Ephraim Bird took third in 28:33; soph Tim Van Laarhoven was fourth in 28:43; senior Dylan Baumann and Sam Ivanecky were 6-7 in 29:01 and Adam Berkowitz was eighth in 29:06.
Tyler Krpan (29:16), Austin Knowlton (29:31), Allen-Michel Burback (29:46) and Ian Bramstedt (29:53) placed 9-10-11-12 for UST and broke 30:00 for the 8,000-meter course on a humid morning.
