Will Houle graduated from the University of St. Thomas with a BA in 1924. As a football player, Houle was named to the 1921 All-State team as a halfback and was a captain of the St. Thomas football team in 1922 and 1923. He played on the Tommies' first MIAC champion team in 1922, and was the first Tommie to play in the NFL, playing six games in 1924 with the Minneapolis Marines.
