Tom Feely Jr. graduated from the University of St. Thomas with a BA in 1941. His career at St. Thomas spanned over 50-plus years, including his time as an athlete, coach, instructor, athletic director, and fundraiser. As a student, Feely competed in football, basketball, and tennis. After graduation, Feely came back as a coach, leading the Tommies' basketball team to 417 wins over a 26-year career, ranking him at 4th-most wins in the MIAC. He led the Tommies to seven MIAC Championships and had six trips to the NAIA Nationals in Kansas City. Feely was named the 1974 Area Coach of the Year and was named District Coach of the Year three times, in 1966, 1970, and 1974. He coached more than 1,000 games in his combined careers in basketball and baseball at the University of St. Thomas and at St. Thomas Academy. He led the Tommies to five consecutive MIAC Championships from 1969-1974.
