Ted Riverso coached the University of St. Thomas women's basketball team, leading the Tommies to 13 consecutive NCAA playoff trips from 1987-1999, finishing those years with a record of 337-80. He guided the team to the 1990-1991 NCAA championship and two other Final Four trips. He was named the American Women's Sports Federation National Coach of the Year (1991) and was a three-time Region and six-time MIAC Coach of the Year. The Tommies' record of 247-37 during the '90s was the best in the NCAA Division III. His teams won 15 All-America honors and broke the Division III record for consecutive wins (40). Riverso also set MIAC records for consecutive wins (65) and road wins (40). He then went on to be the assistant coach for the Division I Minnesota Gophers.
