Jim Gustafson

Jim Gustafson graduated from the University of St. Thomas with a BA in 1983. As a football player, Gustafson was named to the 1982 NAIA All-American first team and named to the 1982 All-District 13 and All-MIAC teams. He helped the Tommies achieve a 15-4 record over his last two seasons. He held the St. Thomsa record for career receptions (174), a record that stood for 25 seasons. He also set a St. Thomas record for career receiving yards (2,288) that stood for 12 years. Additionally, Gustafson was All-American in track and field in javelin, and held a school record 219-foot throw. After graduation, Gustafson played five seasons with the Minnesota Vikings, scoring five touchdowns on 38 NFL receptions.
