Don Simensen

Don Simensen graduated from the University of St. Thomas with a BA in 1951. As a student, Simensen helped St. Thomas win three MIAC championships (1947, 1948, 1949) and was a starting tackle on the Tommies' famed Cigar Bowl team in 1948. He broke the tie with a PAT kick in the final minute of 28-27 road win at St. John's in 1949. He was a part of teams that went 19-2 in conference play (with 15 wins in a row). He also played hockey for the Tommies. After graduating, Simensen played three seasons in the NFL with the Los Angeles Rams, starting on the team as a rookie. Afterwards, he has had a long career in education, including 26 years teaching at St. Paul high schools.
