Andy Hamm graduated from the University of St. Thomas with a BA in 1930. As a student, Hamm was a two-year letterman in football, and was a captain of the 1929 team that went 7-2 with seven shutouts. Hamm was named to the All-Conference football team as a halfback in 1929.
